Have you recently switched your company ? Congratulations 🥳 for coming out of your comfort zone ! This below article is just for you !

Why nobody talks about the great fear of coming out of your comfort zone and stepping into a completely new world, new company ?

I have switched companies twice in my entire corporate career my first company was Accenture and then I moved to Walmart and now I am working at Tesco.

I have seen, felt the hesitation of stepping out of your comfort zone and creating a whole new space for yourself. And there are very very few articles / videos available in this context.

If you have also joined a brand new company and you can relate to whatever I blabbered above I have some quick tips to share with you :

When you join a new company you try to prove yourself from the very first day do not ! I repeat do not !

First thing is, try to understand the process as much as you can, learn about people you are going to work with, how they work , what are they working on currently etc etc. Setup one-on-one with your “going to be teammates”.

I cannot emphasis more on this do not rush things, you learn every single day take things as slow as possible.

But, there’s a catch—you have limited time when you’re labeled as a "fresh arrival," aka a new joinee. So, take full advantage of that title, and as Steve Jobs said, "Stay hungry, stay foolish." Ask as many questions as you can and document everything (this is very important).

For documentation, you can use a Miro board or any platform you prefer. Start documenting who is who, what roles they play, and the projects they’re working on. This will make it easier if you need similar help later.

Then comes the hands on part: where you start getting small tasks and you feel like duh ! this is a cake walk and it’s so easy, I am such a great designer/ developer why they are treating me like a kid ? But, my dear friend, it’s in these small tasks that they start judging you — the way you meet deadlines, whether your work meets their expectations, and so on. So, be very careful about what you submit in your initial days because that sets the tone for your future in the company.

Do not overdo things, just to showcase how much you are capable of ! There will be times when you’ll get the opportunity to shine and showcase the world what superpowers you have but till then wait for the right opportunity.

Build a good network, make sure that people know you. Feel free to talk about your hobbies, or ways through which people can relate to you.

And one last thing, do not worry too much ! if you are here already I know you have the potential to achieve great heights ! Just be yourself and rest will follow :)
